An Austin man has been accused of trying to choke his girlfriend with the cord of a Wii video game controller after she became angry that he had eaten all of her Girl Scout cookies, according to an arrest affidavit.

Christina Alvarado told Austin police that she woke up her boyfriend, Daniel Alvarez, 21, Monday morning after discovering her cookies were gone, according to the affidavit.

Alvarez became upset that Alvarado woke him and began to yell at her, according to the affidavit. Alvarado told police that Alvarez got her into a choke hold that lasted several seconds before she was able to hit him in the eye to break free, according to the affidavit.

The two struggled until they ended up in the living room, where Alvarez grabbed a Wii controller, according to the affidavit. He put his knees on her chest to pin her down and strangled her with the cord of the video game controller, according to the affidavit.

Alvarado was able to free herself and call 911. Alvarez fled the home but was arrested soon after, according to the affidavit. Alvarado had a faint mark from a cord around her neck, shortness of breath, trouble speaking and was coughing when police arrived, the affidavit said.

Alvarez remained in the Travis County jail today with bail set at $40,000. He is facing second degree felony charges of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

• Play it again: Use the playback mode to see your jam recordings brought to life with dramatic camera angles.

New WII coming - via 2011?

The Nintendo Wii is still insanely popular as we approach its two year anniversary, but that doesn't mean Nintendo is sitting on its laurels. No, they're thinking about the future and planning on the Wii's successor already.

The upcoming console, tentatively referred to as the "Wii HD," is said to be based on entirely new hardware that will pump out HD visuals, contain expanded storage and run using digitally distributed content rather than physical discs, which is something widely rumored for all of the next-gen consoles. It's said to be on the slate for 2011, which sounds about right to us. But hey, let's not get too excited: the Wii still has some shelf life to it yet.

Pretty neat.
So in this one, they are using the board to control the motion left to right and using the A button as enter. Neat concept.

Nintendo Channel & Wii Ware.

Nintendo Channel is pretty exciting little animal. You can check out the latest game trailers. So you just have to install that channel on your wii.

An new channel for the wii shop channel. This is called the WiiWare. Same premise as the WiiShopChannel games, although these are new titles likely written for the wii. Rather then just a port of the old games.

Now you can really surf the web using the wii fit board. Gotta love Bluetooth.

XBOX 360 releasing a version of the wii remote.

Doesn't surprise that much considering that when a good idea comes out another competitor will come out with the same thing.
The only thing that is different with this remote is that it will have a mic incorprated to use with their games. Otherwise the same functionality will be in there.

In any case, pretty neat and will bring the HD gaming experience to the next level.
