More Bill C61 Correspondance...
Mr. Galo,
The Government of Canada has introduced Bill C-61 (An Act to Amend the Copyright Act). The proposed legislation is a made-in-Canada approach that balances the needs of Canadian consumers and copyright owners, promoting culture, innovation and competition in the digital age.
What does Bill C-61 mean to Canadians?
Specifically, it includes measures that would:
* expressly allow you to record TV shows for later viewing; copy legally purchased music onto other devices, such as MP3 players or cell phones; make back-up copies of legally purchased books, newspapers, videocassettes and photographs onto devices you own; and limit the "statutory damages" a court could award for all private use copyright infringements;
* implement new rights and protections for copyright holders, tailored to the Internet, to encourage participation in the online economy, as well as stronger legal remedies to address Internet piracy
* clarify the roles and responsibilities of Internet Service Providers related to the copyright content flowing over their network facilities
* provide photographers with the same rights as other creators
What Bill C-61 does not do:
* it would not empower border agents to seize your iPod or laptop at border crossings, contrary to recent public speculation
What this Bill is not:
* it is not a mirror image of U.S. copyright laws. Our Bill is made-in-Canada with different exceptions for educators, consumers and others and brings us into line with more than 60 countries including Japan, France, Germany and Australia
Bill C-61 was introduced in the Commons on June 12, 2008 by Industry Minister Jim Prentice and Heritage Minister Josée Verner.

Dear Sir,
I'm a constituent who has been following recent developments in Canadian copyright law. I'm concerned that the Copyright bill presented by the government on June 12th goes too far in outlawing the lawful use of copyrighted material, and does not take into account the needs of consumers and Canada's creative community who are exploiting the potential of digital technology. I'm disappointed that this bill adopts an American approach to digital copyright laws, instead of crafting a Canadian approach.
Canada's copyright laws need to advance Canada's interests. This means copyright laws that respect ordinary consumer practices, such as unlocking cell phones and copying the contents of purchased DVDs for use in video iPods. The current bill outlaws these practices.
This means copyright that facilitates the work of Canadian creators, such as documentary filmmakers, who instead find that this bill outlaws the use DVDs as source materials for their films. This means we find made-in-Canada solutions to the challenges of file-sharing, such as consideration of the P2P proposal of the Songwriters Association of Canada. Instead, this bill paves the road to importing the consumer file-sharing lawsuit strategy that has failed so spectacularly in the United States. Canada deserves better.
Please ensure that this bill really is made for Canadians by allowing all Canadian stakeholders a say in its final contents. That means meaningful consultation in the coming months, and opening up Canada's copyright policy to more than just the special interests that lobbied behind the scenes for this law. As my MP, I urge you to represent my interests in the copyright debate.
Sincerely,
Mike Galo

The device comes with all the software, and projected price is going to be roughly $300 USD. Which is not much considering that you get all this open source madness..
I'm definately getting one.

Rocky visits San Diego.
Adrian!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
So simple and beautiful.
LINK
"41 Agents bring Rocky to San Diego. We dress up in gray sweats, run thru the mall, and across downtown showing true Rocky spirit. Mall security called for “backup”, we stopped a tour trolley in its tracks, and had a couple bystanders join in. While nobody was really sure who these loud, energetic people were, they cheered us on until the finish line."

Pretty neat.
So in this one, they are using the board to control the motion left to right and using the A button as enter. Neat concept.
You'll need glovepie to control the BT device.

Yet another foot found in BC waters...
Strange, this story keeps on going. Totally bizzare...
"Sixth foot found in B.C. leaves everyone baffled and at loss for explanation
By Greg Joyce, THE CANADIAN PRESS
VANCOUVER - Experts from police to forensic pathologists are at a loss to explain, or even identify, who belongs to six different feet that have washed ashore in British Columbia since last August.
Another foot was discovered Wednesday near Campbell River, on Vancouver Island, bringing to six the number of feet found, disembodied and still encased in a running shoe. So far, DNA testing hasn't helped identify the remains and the absence of explanation has fed wild rumours. "

Phobia of Official Letters?
LINK
BERLIN - A German court has ruled against a woman who cited an unusual phobia in asking that her child support benefits be restored. The phobia: fear of the contents of official letters.
Evidence in the case before a court in western Rhineland-Palatinate state said the woman, who it did not identify, was sent a letter in May 2007 asking that she supply evidence to support continued payments for her daughter.
After she failed to respond, she was notified in July 2007 that the money was being cut off and that she was being given one month to appeal.
Only in September did she reply and supply the requested documents, telling authorities she had a phobia of official correspondence. Officials threw out her appeal because it was too late.
The women told the court that she was and still is petrified of the contents of official letters, but had been too ashamed to seek psychological treatment.
But the court rejected her argument, saying it was a long-term problem and that she had had plenty of time to seek help.

If you go to their web site, RideTheLobster.com you'll see what i mean.

Coffee drinkers have slightly lower death rates...
Well that's good, cause i have a really bad coffee habit.
If i were to divide all the coffee that i drink into proper small cups of coffee, I think that we are talking about at least 8-10 cups every day..
The evil large tumbler that equals probably 2.5 small cups of coffee.
Ya i got problems. Need to drink less coffee.
At least there is less chance of dying from Heart disease.
Here's the link to the story:

Loop me a song now! - Theresa Andersson
This artist is really talented at looping. Very creative. Controlling two different loop stations is crazy.
If you haven't tried to overdub loops before, it's actually very difficult to make it sound right. Especially if you don't have a midi sync control to hold down the master tempo.

anyways, enjoy!
