Amazing: Twins born of different skin color, twice in the same family.

(NECN) - A British mixed race couple have become parents to a set of black and white twin girls for a second time, defying the odds, British broadcaster Sky News reported.

Dean Durrant, who is black, and Alison Spooner, who is white, from Fleet in Hampshire first welcomed daughters Lauren, who takes after her mother, and Hayleigh, who takes after her father, in 2001.

The couple was surprised to find that their second set of twins were also born with different colored skin.

Miya has her father's black skin and Leah is white like her mother. Durrant told Sky that he was "blown away" at the news and that he was still in shock.

A doctor said the probability of having two sets of different colored twins was "one in millions."

911 caller in North Dakota calls police to report a drunken driver: Herself

BISMARCK, N.D. - Police get calls about drunken drivers all the time, but rarely do they come from the alleged offender.

A 17-year-old girl in Bismarck, North Dakota, called 911 on New Year's Eve to report herself driving under the influence. Police Lieutenant Randy Ziegler says he has never heard of such a thing happening before.

The girl told authorities her location shortly before midnight Wednesday and officers found her in a parked car near downtown.

She failed a sobriety test and was arrested for failing to have control of her vehicle while intoxicated.

The girl, whose name was not released because of her age, was not cited for drunken driving.

"Her keys were in her purse and she was parked," Ziegler said. "She did tell us that she had been driving around for hours."

The call probably was a plea for help, he said.

"She told us her life was spiralling out of control, and she had spent the majority of time drinking over the past two weeks," Ziegler said.

The girl was released to her parents.

Deep-Sea Siphonophore

From Geekologie:::
This is a video of a deep-sea (770-meters to be exact) siphonophore doing its thing. What the fuck is a siphonophore?

...an eerily fantastic creature that appears to be a single, large organism, but which is actually a colony of numerous individual jellyfish-like animals that behave and function together as a single entity. The individual units, called zooids, all share the same genetic material and each perform a specialized role within the colony. The best-known siphonophore is the poisonous Portuguese Man o' War.

Mmmm, I can almost taste the wasabi and soy sauce from here. Siphonophore: Deep-sea superorganism [pinktentacle] Thanks to Jack, a personal friend who knows I'm a sucker for new sushi.

Japanese 'tenant' leaves Mexico City airport

MEXICO CITY - Easy come, easy go.

A Japanese man who had been living in Terminal 1 of the Benito Juarez International Airport since Sept. 2 - for no apparent reason - left under equally mysterious circumstances. Authorities searched the terminal for Hiroshi Nohara on Monday but he was nowhere to be found, said an airport official who was not allowed to be quoted by name.

The daily Reforma newspaper ran photos of the scruffy man getting into a cab Sunday at the airport.

Nohara's three-month residency at the airport made him a local celebrity whose life drew comparisons to that of Viktor Navorski, a character portrayed by Tom Hanks in the 2004 movie "The Terminal."

But there was one major distinction: Navorski was forced to stay at a New York City airport after war broke out in his Eastern European country and officials said they could neither allow him into the United States nor deport him.

Nohara had a tourist visa that allows him to stay in Mexico - anywhere in Mexico, not just the airport - until early March. He also possessed a ticket home.

The middle-aged foreign national, whose exact age was not known, speaks little Spanish and never did explain his motives for staying when asked by an interpreter hired by the television stations that documented his daily activities and tourists who asked for his autograph and posed with him for pictures.

Reforma reported he left Sunday with a woman who had visited him at least twice at the airport. But no one is sure who she is.

The Japanese Embassy was closed Monday and no one could be reached to ask if they had news of Nohara's whereabouts.

XBMC on MID device.

These are atom based media player which means they have a reasonable amount of horsepower behind them. ~1.6GHz
Engadget guys got xbmc working on this device. It looks amazing. Unfortunately they don't show a video playing but they show music playing on the device. Don't know how much this goes for, but could be an iPod killer in the eyes of a nerd, but not the general public. just MO.
